Guys, my life is changed. For real. I have been struggling through this process of self-teaching cookie decorating. This weekend was my first gig as a cookie artist for my friend’s church celebration. I planned 4 dozen cookies to be ready on Monday night, so last week I started planning and prepping.
One of the things I noticed as I obsessively watch cookie videos (anyone else glued to these things?) is that most of the cookie artists were using tipless bags. Why? Wouldn’t that be harder to control the amount of icing? Besides, I like the numbered tips. They are shiny and satisfying and make a sweet little clinking sound when they rattle together. However, in preparation for my debut, I ordered these tipless bags from Amazon. They were a great deal, so I figured I would try it.
Life-changing. That was what I discovered. So, first, I can fill them all up and nothing leaks out the bottom– because they are still closed. Face palm. Why didn’t I think of that earlier? Second, they are so much easier to control! They respond so easily when I change the pressure in my hands that the icing flow is way better. When I am done, I just pinch the end together and it is sealed up waiting for me to need that color again. Seriously. Where have these been? Oh, and clean up? The remaining icing comes out so much easier and they the bag is thrown away. Done and done. I’m in love, I’m in love and I don’t care who knows it!
Now, can someone help me with my divots? -K
